 Las Calas, is a century manor house, situated in La Lechuza Hamlet, situated in the heart of the island of Gran Canaria. This town is such an combination of sceneries, small places, colours, where productive farms can be found, growing potatoes, green vegetables and juicy fruits like peachs, plams, pears,etc.

La Vega de San Mateo counts on different protected natural areas and places to be visited, such as "Camaretas", "Hoya de Gamonal", "Los Pozos de Las Nieves", the route of "La Mina" (a gully), with reminiscences of ancient vegetation and old watermill. In the urban part of the town, the farm market (where local farmers sell their products) is opened on saturdays and sundays. Other points are : the Church, the "Gofiomill" ("gofio" is a typical canarian flour made from tosted corn grains) and the etnographic museum "Cho Limones", where one can see old objects such as utensils, tools and implements used in country areas.Among its most important festivities we can find:
In May :The celebration of la Virgen de Fátima, in which local people decorate the street paviments with flowers.
In August : The Farmer's Festivity taking place on the first sunday of August.
In September : San Mateo Celebration (Patron of the town). This festivity lasts the whole month, being the most important days September 20th. ( religious tributes are offered to the Saint) and September 21th.
