 Hotel Restaurant 'Johannes Vermeer' is a new hotel situated in in a monumental building in the cosy centre of Delft. This historical city is known for her many cultural sights and shops.
The buildings of the old cigar factory are linked to each other in such a way that each room has a special view of the city of Delft. On the front side, for instance, you have a view on one of the canals. On the rear side you have a stunning view of the 3 churches and the Town Hall of Delft.
Johannes Vermeer
Johannes Vermeer lived from 1632 until 1675. Born and raised in Delft, after a few years he was accepted in the painters ' gilde ' or union of Delft as a master. His work consists of 35 pieces but experts suspect that a lot of his work has disappeared. His cautious and precise way of working and his short life resulted in a small amount of paintings.
The, by Vermeer painted, daily existence, creates a good image of life in Delft during the 17th century.
